Drop Bags
Been awhile since we packed for a big race, but it is just as busy and stressful as I remember. Just kidding,,,, kinda.
I wrote a post, some time ago, detailing everything that goes into preparing the race drop bags. Things change, and we are always striving to do better, but for all practical purposes that post is still a very realistic look at getting your drop bags ready. If you have bot seen it you can read it here.
Also I did a nice post about Dan’s packing process the last time he ran Iditarod, and since he is running this year you might enjoy seeing his perspective, read that post here.
Thank you to our Sponsors
As we gather together the gear for this years race season it is time to thank some amazing sponsors. In a year full of uncertainty we have shied away from asking for help. Well aware of how fortunate we are to have our health, and be able to continue doing what we love in these extraordinary times. But none of this would be possible without help. Companies like ManMat have spnsored gear for our dogs. And Intuition Liners is once again supporting us and making sure our feet stay warm. Individuals like Jeanette Peacock, Virginia Pond, Jennie Schemenaue reached out to the kennel, aware of how much goes into running a kennel.
And a huge shout out to the bubble of friends who have been amazingly supportive – we could not do this without them. Love you Matt & Erin, Jay, Abbey & Sean, Madeline, Laura & Will, TC & Dave, Sarah, Jenny, Leo. Very lucky to have so many wonderful and talented friends.
Dan is actually cutting the last of his meant snacks today, and I am on human food. In addition drop bags for 2 teams (Dan & Jodi) in the Summit Quest 300 we also have to finish Dan’s Iditarod drop bags to turn in before we start the Summit Quest.
I am just sneaking in a quick update between batches of homemade oatmeal raisin cookies for Dan’s drop bags.
Finn is supervising the inside tasks today. He approves of the hot drink selection
And it is not too late to join our team
As folks all over start to get excited about following along there is a growing awareness that this will be a year unlike any other. And for that we are feeling extra excited to be involved. But it has also presented challenges unlike past years. The largest being the loss of our winter tourist season. And recently we have had some wonderful people reach out to see if sponsorship is still an option. To which I reply with a most thankful, why yes it is. please feel free to contact us for information. And to answer the next question we are getting; do you have a gofundme or similar site, this year, we so many people dealing with real profound struggles we made the decision to step back and make space for those efforts. But having said that we are still profoundly thankful for anyone who would like to join Team Dew Claw and help support the our efforts in an unconventional race season. You can contact us here, Mush Thanks
