Snowmageddon – previously known as ‘Winter in Alaska’
So since I am on a roll, lets try another blog post. A simple photo blog this time, with a series of photos taken today as we dug out from the first real good snow storm of the season. And despite a day of hard work we were more then happy to have it. Basically I thought it would be fun to carry the camera around and snap whatever images appealed to me as the day unfolded in all it’s glory. Sure was fun, hope y’all like the photos.
OK while this was going on in addition to taking photos I shoveled out in front of the garage, the wood shed, the retired dogs pen, and the path to the outhouse. Sorry no shovel selfies.
OK and now we move to the dog yard.
OK at this point in time Dan took the puppies for a short run with the snowmachine. Yes those little Love Birds; Falcon, Emu & Robin are starting to run in harness. Sorry no photos I was busy getting my sled ready and geared up for our first sled run out of the yard.
Now honestly I could only take a few photos, and only during the good sections of trail. I am using the word ‘good’ fairly loosely here, basically if I could let go with one hand to take a photo that was good. Most of the trail was not ‘good’. It was drifted in and winds blowing so strong moments after I went though you could not even tell a team had been there. Not what you would call fun in the traditional sense, but oh so important for the team and I to have experiences like this.
Here is a little video I took during one of those ‘good’ sections of trail. This is actually the nicest part we saw all day, except for that first 1.5 miles Dan had been on with the machine.
The day was finished with a nice big dinner, me posting this blog, and an early night to bed for all. Cause if the weather person is right, we get to do all this again tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek into a snow day at Dew Claw.
