Video Update

December 30, 2015 Posted by Jodi Mushing, the Dogs, the Mushers

_DSC0808 (2)Running non-stop is the best way to describe it.  Between getting the Space Cadets harness broke and off to a good start, and building up the miles on the race dogs we are launching 2-4 teams a day from the kennel. And of course there is the feeding and care of all these dogs. Firewood to keep the cabin and garage from freezing. Humans need food too, so add cooking to the list. On a good day there is time for some housework and laundry. *HA who are we kidding, I rarely do housework these days*  Yup, running non-stop; NOT complaining, just explaining.

Trying to find time to blog has been a bit of a challenge, so I hope y’all will accept for this installment of “what’s up at Dew Claw” some videos of recent training runs. I believe the cool kids call this a Vlog. But don’t quote me on that, I have not been one of the cool kids for years now. But whatever you call it, I think this is the only way I am going to meet my goal of 2 blog post a month. Already up way too late, and we have another set of runs with a few hours of camping on the trail between them planned for tomorrow.  So please enjoy our video update.

First we have the race dogs headed out with me and Madeline. Who is amazing by the way. Cheerful and hard working, always up for an adventure, observant and intelligent, and most important she is very kind to & great with the dogs.  We had an excellent run that day, and the race team is really enjoying double the attention and longer runs. Dan got this video of us using the ‘slow mo’ setting on his iPhone.

Then we have this one of Madeline running the Space Cadet pups with Orchid in lead and a few race dogs mixed in to add the wisdom of age. These young dogs are looking great and naturals that they are, improve with leaps and bounds every time they go out. Hard to tell the young ones from the old pros. Running the with the snow machine now, as it gives a greater degree of control, you can hop off at a moments notice without setting a snowhook or worrying that over-energetic yearlings will pull it when you do. Not to mention it makes dealing with one of the tightest turn-arounds we have much easier.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the dogs in action.  I figure if a picture is worth a thousand words then a video update is like a short novel, right?

Happy Trails Y’all!!!
